Snowday!

Hello all, this is Ally. Emma and I are taking over the blog for the next couple of weeks. Mom decided writing actual papers is overrated. Just kidding! Lately, our schedules have been getting a little messed up because of something. Can you guess what? If you guessed snow, then you are correct! Even though we're homeschooled and technically don't have snow days, who can resist sledding?

Our friends, the Camps and Gardners, braved the roads to sled with us!
We enjoyed making "trains," to see how long we could stay together.

The girls made this lovely snowwoman.

Watching people try the snowboard was probably the best part of the day!
Landon and Emma got really good at it... the rest of us... well nevermind...

Getting ready...

And off we go!

Mom, I love you, which is why I chose this picture.
Isn't she just the best mom ever!?

Well, that concludes our snow day.
 Have a great week!

Dress Refashion #2

Ally found this lovely selection at our local Goodwill. If you have seen my previous post - The Refashionistas - you probably already know where this is going.

TIME TO REFASHION!

Ally wasn't happy I was taking photos. But I was like, "Dude! The blog readers are gonna wanna see this masterpiece!" You are welcome, readers.
The sleeves came off...

I started pinning away! This is a good time to mention that I did this refashion all by myself. I need to practice a bit... But it wasn't too awful for my first attempt.

I took in each side by about 3 inches. The tag said small... but that's not a small to me. Oh, well. More sewing means more fun!

I got bored and began acting like a nut. No surprise there.

Being a semi-professional (HA!), I quickly resumed the task at hand.

We decided to cut off about 9 inches from the bottom. Later, I turned this into a thick sash.

I (finally) convinced Ally to help by ironing down the hem around the bottom of the dress. She didn't do too badly... But some practice wouldn't hurt.

Just kidding! Love you, sis. :)

After sewing up the hem at the bottom, we were done! Yay!

How cute is this dress?! It's like, WAY cute.

You guys, I think I'm totally addicted to refashioning now. I have only one more dress (Emma's) to do before I need another project...

I'm sure Goodwill will be seeing a lot of me!

The Refashionistas

So, the other day, I was looking at Pinterest... (Big surprise there, huh?) I came across this awesome blog - The Refashionista! She goes to Goodwills and buys super ugly - but super cheap stuff - and turns them into something desirable. I decided I had to give it a try. So, I grabbed Ally and Emma and headed to the nearest Goodwill.

I found a dress very similar to a style of dress the Refashionista did! And for only $2.50. Score!

Mom had to help me since I'm not exactly good at sewing... I prefer hand sewing to machine sewing.
 I know. I'm weird.

I gave it a shot though! It was pretty fun to see the dress take shape. And not all that hard to figure out how to do either!

Aw. Sleepy baby.

Mom had to help take in the sides some more. I didn't quite get the hang of that. Oh, well. Practice makes perfect, right?

And it's done! You can't tell in the picture, but it's slightly a high-low hem. One thing I like about making my own dresses, is how I can control how short the dress is going to be. Nowadays, they make dresses way too short! I like mine right above my knee. Otherwise, who knows when a gust of wind is going to come? This is Kansas after all!

Super cute! I just adore it. And it only cost me about 3 bucks! If only summer would hurry up so I can actually wear it... I'm also really in need of a tan. Yikes. My legs are blinding!

We ran out of time to redo Ally and Emma's dresses, so I'll post a blog when we do those.

Thanks for reading!
