So, the other day, I was looking at Pinterest... (Big surprise there, huh?) I came across this awesome blog - The Refashionista! She goes to Goodwills and buys super ugly - but super cheap stuff - and turns them into something desirable. I decided I had to give it a try. So, I grabbed Ally and Emma and headed to the nearest Goodwill.
I found a dress very similar to a style of dress the Refashionista did! And for only $2.50. Score!
Mom had to help me since I'm not exactly good at sewing... I prefer hand sewing to machine sewing.
I know. I'm weird.
I gave it a shot though! It was pretty fun to see the dress take shape. And not all that hard to figure out how to do either!
Aw. Sleepy baby.
Mom had to help take in the sides some more. I didn't quite get the hang of that. Oh, well. Practice makes perfect, right?
And it's done! You can't tell in the picture, but it's slightly a high-low hem. One thing I like about making my own dresses, is how I can control how short the dress is going to be. Nowadays, they make dresses way too short! I like mine right above my knee. Otherwise, who knows when a gust of wind is going to come? This is Kansas after all!
Super cute! I just adore it. And it only cost me about 3 bucks! If only summer would hurry up so I can actually wear it... I'm also really in need of a tan. Yikes. My legs are blinding!
