You're probably thinking that this is going to be another long boring blog post you don't want to read, but I've had a lot of time for my brain to process these different views as I wrote this awhile ago and have been waiting to publish it. But I encourage you to make it to the end and seriously consider what I've said.
I've been thinking about different views on whether or not gay people can go to heaven. A few months ago we were debating this topic with some friends of ours which led me to find out what God thought on the subject...
We know that we have come to know him if we obey his commands. The man who says, "I know him," but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But if anyone obeys his word, God's love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in him: Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did.
1 John 2:3-6
You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination. Leviticus 18:22
For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their woman exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with woman and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error. And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to debased mind to do what ought not to be done. Romans 1:26-28
When someone says they're a Christian but they continue to live a life of sin without feeling the tiniest bit of guilt, I would assume they are not on the heavenward track. I'm not saying gay people are bad, nor am I saying that I'm any better than them. All sin is equal, but as my dad puts it some sins have much bigger consequences than others. God hates sin. You're probably thinking that God can't hate anything, but God hates it when we sin, but even when we sin, over and over again he will always love you and forgive you as many times as it takes. It's our job as ambassadors of Christ to gently steer them in the right direction and leave the rest up to Him. How can you sit there while the person next to you is ruining his life? It's like the bus. If a bus was about to hit a person, would you just stand there and watch knowing that you could have saved them from tremendous pain or even death? I just think that it's time to do the math and figure out where you stand. I don't believe in grey area. It's either black or white. Sin vs praise. Good vs evil. Light vs darkness. So do you stand on God's word... or the world's?
And on a less serious note... I had to post these.
I LOVE taking pictures of this little girl!
These last few days have been pretty bumpy. I feel like we've hopped onto a roller-coaster all of a sudden, so this was a very needed distraction! Thanks for reading!
Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.
